Kinds of Adjectives

There are different kinds of adjectives. Some adjectives describe the qualities of nouns.

Examples:

a cold drink
a hot bun
an ugly monster
a loud crash

Some adjectives tell you which place or country a person or thing comes from, or belongs to. They are called adjectives of origin

an Indian temple
Dutch clogs
a Mexican hat
a Filipino shirt
the French flag
a Japanses garden

Some adjectives tell you the color of things

The sky is gray
The sea is blue
Roses are red
I don't like green apples

Some adjectives tell you the size of nouns they describe

a Huge balloon
a fat sumo wrestler
a thin boy
a short man
a large ship
a wide street
a long bridge
